Engr. Gideon Ikhine Denies Stepping Down for Obaseki

By Simeon Osajie

A leading Gubernatorial aspirant in the Edo 2020 election,  Engr. Gideon Ikhine has debunked the going round social media that he had stepped down for Godwin Obaseki who he claimed is not yet a member of the PDP family.

In a telephone interview, Engr. Ikhine said that, "Governor Godwin is my very good friend and if at all he is nursing the ambition to join the PDP family, l should be the first he will approached."

Ikhine who who also took to his twitter page to personally disclaim the rumour asked delegates who will be voting in the primaries coming up on Saturday at Ogbe stadium  not be discouraged or distracted by such speculations.

“I am still in the race, I have not stepped down for anybody neither has the discussion come up. I will like to let the leaders and delegates of the Peoples Democratic Party, my supporters and friends know that I am going all the way. This is not negotiable.”

It was gathered that many members of the restoration have totally rejected the idea of asking the aspirant to step down.

A statement by the organisation’s Media Officer, Tony Okonegene, said: “ For the avoidance of doubt, Engr. Gideon Ikhine is very much in the race and set to win the primary. Please disregard any such lies which we expect to heighten as we move closer to the finishing line."

It will be revealed that an article published today by Opera News, Wednesday, June 17, 2020 with the title: Edo 2020: Two PDP Aspirants step down for Obaseki
