We Need our Mace Back - Auchi Polytechnic SUG

Following the underground s move by members elect that were supposed to be inaugurated into the 7th Assemly of the Edo State House of Assembly who allegedly loyal to Oshiomhole/Ize-Iyamu to forcefully take over proceedings at the Assembly in order to install a new speaker, efforts were made to ensure that a MACE is on standby should they fail to gain entrance to the complex. 

Reports reaching the9jatrend was that, the MACE allegedly used in the purported inauguration at a private residence was rented from the Student Union Government (SUG) of the Auchi Polytechnic, Auchi. 

One of the members of the SUG who preferred to remain anonymous said “it is true that we were approached two days ago and a request was made to us by a certain man who disguised as a pastor. The request was for him to use our MACE for a drama presentation at his church in Auchi. 

"We obliged him since we believed it will be for a risk-free purpose. We were shocked to see our mace on social media and again on Television stations across the state and country. 

"We were deceived and we are disappointed in the said pastor. We hereby call on him to bring back our mace otherwise, he won’t like the calamity that we be visited on him" he concluded.

Efforts by the9jatrend to reach out to the said pastor who made the arrangement for the students mace to be used proved unsuccessful. We shall keep you informed as events spread out.

Meanwhile, in a telephone interview with the9jatrend, the Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Francis Okiye dismissed the threat and regard the them as a group of people sitting in a bear parlour for whatever discussion that has no bearing with constitutionality.

"I don't intend to join isuues with a group of people sitting in a beer parlour for whatever discussion that has no bearing with constitutionality" he said.
