Edo State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Frank Okiye has advised Nigerians to emulate hard work of Chief Gabriel Igbinedion which he said was responsible for his achievements.
The speaker gave the advice at the 86th birthday thanksgivIng ceremony of Chief Igbinedion at Saint Gabriel Catholic Church along Sapele Road in Benin.
Speaker Okiye described Chief Gabriel Igbinedion as a great achiever not only in Nigeria but in Africa as a whole stressing that his hard work was worthy of emulation.
The speaker said: "he is a Colossus of a kind. Words will naturally fail us to describe the enigmatic composition of the man. But we are just happy to be part of the celebrantion. We thank God for the journey so far. We pray God to keep protecting him not only for Edo State, but for the country and Africa as a whole."
Speaking on his relationship with the celebrant, the Rt. Hon. Okiye said that he grew up to know Chief Igbinedion as a great achiever beyond the shores of this country.
He said he appreciated every given opportunity to associate with him to share from his wealth of experience.
Commenting on the remark by
Archbishop of Benin dioceses, Reverend Augustine Akubueze on the need for INEC to be impartial in the upcoming Edo governorship election, the speaker stated that the call by the cleric was germane to the peace and progress of the state.
He further stated that there was no gainsaying the fact that the state needed transparent election that could engender peace and progress in the state.
