Zaiki Anselm Eidonojie II, the Ojuromi of Uromi Kingdom has congratulated Mr. Godwin Obaseki, the executive government of Edo state for his sound victory recorded during just concluded governorship election.
Speaking to newsmen after the declaration by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Ojuromi described the re-election as a victory for democracy and expressed happiness over the outcome.
He said: “I am happy about the outcome of this election. first and foremost, I must congratulate him for this victory, I feel elated, all my chiefs are happy and the people of Uromi are all happy.
“This victory shows that when you are elected into an office you must work for the people instead of servicing godfathers and the people will always fight for you at times like this.
“The man Godwin Obaseki is connected to the people and that is what earned him the resounded victory at the poll, it's an overwhelming victory”, he said.
On his special message to the victorious PDP candidate, the Ojuromi said: “He should continue with the good works he doing or even increase his efforts because to whom much is given much is expected, Edo people are with him, they demonstrated that at the polls and they are not expected him to do more in ensuring Edo state continues to move forward."
While congratulating the governor, HRH Eidenojie II prayed that his second tenure will bring better dividends to the Edo people in all sectors of governance across the state.
People's Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Mr. Godwin Obaseki defeated his closest rival of the All Progressive Congress (APC) Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu with 307.955 to 223,619 with a different of 84,336 votes.
