Edo State Chapter
The newly inaugurated Edo State chapter of The Nigerian Economic Society has expressed it readiness to work with the Executive Governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki for the development of the state.
Speaking during the inauguration, the President of the society, Prof. Sarah Anyanwu, represented by a former president of the society, Prof. Abienabu welcomed the new executive and thanked them for the formation of the Edo State chapter. She said: "the society is determined to formulate and implement policies that will enhance the economy of the state and the country."
In a remark, the newly inaugurated Chairman, Prof. Mercy Ada Ayinwe congratulated Edo State governor and his deputy on their re-election. She said that the Nigerian Economic Society, Edo State chapter inaugurated in Edo State would go a long way in offering services to the state government for the development of the economy, in order to ensure macroeconomic stability and eradication of poverty.

"In the Nigerian Economic Society, we are ready to work with everybody Even if you have an organization and you call on us for help, we can give you the expert services you would require. The government can call on us. I am very happy that today the government has thought it wise to be with us and this is a great thing".
The General Secretary, Dr. Francis Igberaese, expressed appreciation for the inauguration of the Nigerian Economic Society, Edo stare chapter.
"We formulate policies for governments. We participate in the economic teams of various governments. It is an over 61 years old body and the state chapter is being inaugurated today."
"A Fellow of the society, Prof. S.E.N. Okoh said: "All these times, we have carried it on and now we are having Edo State chapter, it is something of joy".
The Representative of state government, Mr. John Osawe, who is the Senior Special Assistant on Data Analysis and Visualization and a member of the Economic Management Team said that now that the Edo State chapter of the society is the first chapter to be inaugurated in the country, the state looks forward to working with the society to ensure that things that concern the economy of the state are well thought out.
He stated that Edo State Government is ready to work with the organization.
The Nigeria Economic Society was formed in 1957 by Nigerian scholars as a united platform for Nigerian economists and allied social sciences.
