Nigeria government has approved the take off of Mudiamen University, Irrua in Esan Central Local Government Area of Edo State.
The recent increase of universities by the Nigeria government to 20, brings total number of university in Edo Central to two.
The pioneer university in the district, Adegboyega University in Ogwa is owned by a religious body, Seventh Day Adventist Church while the new university is said to be the uncommon effort of Mr. Sunny Eromosele Eboh who conceived the idea of putting on ground an educational avalanche to be known as Mudiamen University, that would be technologically oriented in philosophy.
The university will focus on Welding and Fabrication.
The Planning and Implementation Committee of the proposed Mudiamen University of Welding and Fabrication, Irrua, in Esan Central Local Government Area of Edo State, on Wednesday 17th April, 2020, played host to the Verification Committee of the Nigeria University Commission (NUC), who were at the University to ascertain the level of work done to meet with the requirements for accrediting the institution.
Speaking during the visitation to the university site which led to the granting of the license to operate, former Speaker of Edo State House of Assembly. Rt. Hon. Victor Edoror, said, the establishment of the university is a big plus not only to Esan Central, Esanland and Edo State, it is also the beginning of new things to come in Nigeria, as the university is expected to produce quality graduates that will be self-sustaining hence fill up the missing link between acquisition of academic knowledge and its application to real life situations in solving problems.
The Edo former speaker added that, the graduates from Mudiamen University of Welding and Fabrication, Irrua, will go a long way in creating employment for the teeming youth, thereby reducing violence and criminality amongst them.
