Court Quashes Case Of Conspiracy, Forgery Against Mercy Sheidun, Other

By Simeon Osajie
An Oredo Magistrate court sitting in Benin City on the 16th day of September 2022, has discharged and acquitted one Barrister Mrs. Mercy Sheidun and another following a charge of conspiracy  and forgery brought against them by the Commissioner of Police, Edo state.

The nominal complainant in the case, one Mr. Ekundayo Sheidun,  while testifying in court by himself and through his witnesses, alleged that the Will of his late father, Engineer Kolawole Sheidun, was forged by Barrister (Mrs) Mercy Sheidun and the 2nd Defendants.

In a two hours, thirty minutes judgment delivered  by the presiding Magistrate, F.E.N. Igbinosa Esq., (Senior Magistrate, Special Grade) the court, after painstakingly reviewing the evidence on both sides, resolved that the complainant failed to prove the allegations against the defendants in the case and accordingly discharged and acquitted all the Defendants of the offence of conspiracy and forgery of a Will brought against them.

The case lasted for almost 9 years having been filed in 2013.
