A
frontline governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives
Congress (APC) Dr. Ernest Afolabi Umakhihe on Tuesday said the party
is determined to reclaim Edo State in the forthcoming governorship election to
provide quality leadership that will enthrone good governance.
He
lamented that there has not been significant development in the state
particularly in the area of people oriented projects and infrastructure.
Umakhihe
spoke, while soliciting the support and nomination of APC leaders and delegates
in Abudu, Idogbo and Benin, headquarters of Orhionmwon, Ikpoba-Okha and Oredo
Local Government Councils respectively.
Umakhihe
who described the situation as unfortunate said Abudu in Orhionmwon Local
Government Council Area has remained underdeveloped owing to PDP misrule,
promising to ensure judicious use of the 13% derivation fund for oil
communities for the overall development and benefit of the people.
"I am seeking your support and nomination for
the governorship ticket. I have personally contributed to the party in the
state with my projects verifiable in all 18 Local Government Councils.
"Sadly, no impact of governance in the
state. I am not feeling the impact of government in Edo.I have the
blueprint to develop Edo state. The blueprint will ensure that boundary
disputes, kidnapping and banditry are tackled. We are delivering Edo State
to APC."
he said.
He
noted that he is determined to changing the narratives, if he emerges the APC
governorship flag bear in the gubernatorial election primary, adding that
farmers, youth and women in Orhionmwon, Ikpoba-Okha and Oredo Local Government
Councils, will get funding, agriculture projects and support for their
farms.
Umakhihe
added that with his connections and experience as a retired Federal Permanent
Secretary, he is the best man for the job.
He
noted that he has single-handedly attracted people oriented projects spread
across the 18LGAs in the three senatorial districts of Edo state.
Responding,
Leaders of the APC both from Oredo and Ikpoba-Okha expressed support for the
aspirant just as party supporters and leaders in Orhionmwon led by a former
House of representative member, who represented Orhionmwon/Uhunmwode federal
constituency in the National Assembly, Patrick Aisowieren said his visit is a
sign of good things coming to the state.
