We Endorse Gov. Obaseki for Second tenure - Hon. Collins Dare Oreruan

The  coalition of 35 registered political parties  in Edo State has endorsed Mr. Godwin Obaseki and his running mate, Comrade Phillip Shaibu for another four years.

Briefing journalists in Benin city,  the leader of the coalition, Hon. Collins Dare Oreruan, said: "the coalition  has resolved that, instead of acting as individual entities, it will be more effective to support the Edo State Governor as a block with our existing party structures across the state."

The statement added: "we also resolved to advise our individual governorship candidates to withdraw and john hands with Governor Godwin Obaseki to build on the growth and developmental legacies and foundation he has laid in his first tenure.

"We shall synergize with the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to mobiliize the voters at the grassroots on why Governor Obaseki and Comrade Philip Shaibu should be returned as governor and deputy."

"Our decision is based on the achievements of Governor Obaseki which included positives economic development, industrial revolution, comprehensive and qualitative education programmes, workers welfare package, security architecture, growth of agricultural value chains, friendly taxes levies and rates regime, conducive business environment and harmonious community relationship." 

"Edo state governorship election is not about religious titles, but about the noiseless provisions of sustainable tools for business growth, industrial advancement that has grown the state economy and created employment opportunities for the youths of Edo state and many more."

The political parties that joined in the coalition are, SDP, DPP, AAC, ACCORD, NEPP, PRO, ANP, JMPP, HGP, ANN, RP, UPP, SNP, NAP, MAJA, AGA, CAP, FJP. ACD, YDP, ANRP, CAC, COWA, APGA, ANDP, DA, NPM, UPN, FDP, NDCP, ASD, NRM, NFD, PPP and PPN.

You will recall that of recent, the Federal High Court in Abuja has affirmed the Power of the Independent National Electoral Commission to deregister political parties which failed to comply with the provisions of the law particularly Section 225 A of the 1999 Constitution as amended bringing the authentic parties that will contest for the September 19 governorship election to 18.
