Executive Chairman of Esan South-East Council, Hon. Peter Aguele has elougised the fallen heroes as he marked this year Armed Forces Remembrance Day by laying a wreath in honour of the departed soldiers in Ubiaja the administrative headquarters of the local government.
The event which recorded large turn out of dignitaries from within and outside the local government is an annual one being celebrated the 15th day of every January.
In his address, Hon. Aguele without reservations elougised the departed soldiers describing them as men of noble characters endowed with uncommon patriotism who gave their all in services to their father's land.
He salute their gallantry and regretted that not much has been done to reciprocate their patriotism and call on all and sundry to emulate and sustain the standing legacies left behind by the fallen Heroes in defence of our fatherland in order that the labours of our Heroes past will not be in vein.
Going further, Hon. Aguele said "we must deliberately place the interest of our country before ours and we must love our neighbours as ourselves irrespective of our ethnic divide noting that God is Love."
The council Boss who responded through donation to the appeal fund by the umbrella body of the old soldiers (The Nigeria Legion) in the area called on everyone present to support the Legion to enable them support the families left behind by their departed colleagues.
