Nigerian South Africa based Hip Hop Artiste, Desmond Omoregbe Ogie, has called on fellow artistes to use their music to unite the country due to the unabated level of insecurity ravaging the country and the call for secession from various quarters in the country.
He gave the call while speaking on his plan to launch his single track musical album titled "Africa" on July 23. 2021
Ogie, whose stage name is "Mr. Five", said the artistes have an enormous role to play in unifying the country and give a sense of hope and and direction to Nigerians because many have given up on the country due to the high level of insecurity and hardship.
"Music is very powerful we can use the music to change the situations of insecurity and bad governance in Nigeria.
"They should always send messages of hope and unity in their songs because people are losing interest in the country because of insecurity and bad governance", he said
The Edo State born artiste said the country is so blessed with both human and natural resources but its bane is leadership noting that his love for Nigeria and Africa spurred him to put up the music "Africa" and that all hands must be on the deck to make it great again.
"My humble appeal to the government and other Nigerians is that, we all have to put hands together and make Nigeria a better place because it’s all of us that will enjoy it if the place is great again.
"I want Africa to improve, I want it to compete with other continents. we have everything that can make it a great continent", he said.
He called on the Nigerian government to provide a conductive atmosphere for the artistes to thrive by granting them free loans and wave off all the bottlenecks militating against the Nigerian artistes.
